Cryptocurrency App Trends in Europe for Q1 2021

The first quarter of 2021 saw a remarkable surge in the usage of cryptocurrency applications across Europe. Data from Sensor Tower offers a clear perspective on the performance of the top five players in the market.

Binance: Buy Bitcoin & Crypto, despite generating no revenue, showed a sharp increase in downloads starting at 157K in the last week of December 2020 and peaking at over 1.1M in the last week of March 2021. Weekly active users followed a similar upward trend, starting at approximately 1.2M and soaring to over 5.2M by the end of March.

Crypto.com-Buy Bitcoin,ETH,SOL also demonstrated growth, with downloads initially at 74K and reaching a high of 319K in mid-February before settling at around 164K by March end. Its active users climbed from around 513K to over 1.1M in the same period.

Coinbase: Buy Bitcoin & Ether saw its downloads more than double from the start of January's 104K to 270K in early February, then gradually decreased to 134K towards the end of March. The app's weekly active users presented a stable trend, hovering around 1.5M throughout the quarter.

Trust: Crypto & Bitcoin Wallet experienced a modest increase in downloads from 52K to 95K over the quarter. The weekly active users showed a more pronounced rise from 246K to over 510K.

Lastly, CoinMarketCap: Crypto Tracker had its downloads grow from 21K to nearly 79K by the end of March. Active users saw a steady increase from 182K to 425K over the same period.
